AMD wipes the floor with it, in rendering. Much higher compute performance with no artificially limited double precision floatingpoint.
Those ratings are not in comparison with each other, so to speak. They are an overall rating of the product in comparison with other products in their classes. These two cards are not anywhere close to being in the same class. The one is a newer budget card, and the other an ex 'top dog' that competed with other high end cards.
With so many cards at different price points, and purposes, I imagine it is difficult to come up with a fair rating system. for the price, the 750ti is an excellent card, worthy of the 9.0 it has received, that said, the HD 7970 blows it out of the water.
What the heck... the differences is almost 50% better for HD7970 and the score only 8.8 vs 9.0? Shit, I can't believe this comparison any longer... too nvidia-ish.
