The R7 265 is garbage tier, of course the 950 will beat it. lol last two digits 50, mid-tier Nvidia last two digits 70, mid-tier AMD ie: R7265 = low tier R9 270x = mid tier GTX 950 = mid tier I don't know why you felt that you needed to mention that you bought a higher tiered card and tell us it's better. Please try and weigh the value and wattage of respected tiers. 265: 6880 GPU score (Futuremark) $110~$234 (This card was a real flop, I think. It was a one shot, low availability which drove up it's value.) 150w October 2013 OSP: $139 DX 11.2 GTX 950 8670 GPU score $102~$150 90w August 20, 2015 OSP: $160 DX 12 Mid-range, two years newer, no surprise there. Compare it to another mid-range, like the 270X.. R9 270x 8680 GPU Score $115~$510 (Silly, Amazon) 185w September 25, 2013 OSP: $199 DX 12 More in range by year/tech: R7 370 GPU Score 8240 $120-175 110w June 18, 2015 OSP: $149 DX 12 Depending on what you do, the R7 370 has more horsepower, but they're back and forth games wise and benchmarks. At the cost of +30w, you get a little more hardware gallop. So, apples and oranges, really. Then, of course the older card just plows it night and day, but it's wattage is nuts.
that FPS is not true I had r9 270X and I had 72FPS in bioshock benchmark.
Well, Idk about that guys GTX690 I never read anything about a 690 frying because of a driver. But I will say back in the 9800GT era, I had bought 2 of them, they were kinda pricey at that time, Nvida happen to put out a driver and I updated to it, and well I was victim of the Fan issue present in that version of drivers, meaning my cards were running around 120c+ for a long ass time since I ran a bot on my COD4 server meaning I had to keep my game open, went to work, came back home and my PC is off, no display what so ever. Both cards were dead as a door knob. Bought a HD5850 and never looked back for 5 years. I don't hate either company, I like em both to be honest, and I wish I could run both with out having issues with drivers conflicting, AMD has deals that Nvidia can't even match until the card is so old that its just not worth it. I love my 780ti's, But for me it depends on who has the better card for the performance and Nvidia usually looses to that, but you get simi better driver support although drivers are kinda rubbish with Nvida 9xx series launch, and they still goof up the Kepler cards at times. AMD / ATI dropped support for older cards, my HD4890 is usless for many games even though it can still hold its own surprisingly well, or my ati 1800xl which is a nice TV tuner/video card, only works with Windows XP.
With the new drivers the 380x is very good. Here in sa I can get a R9 380x for the price of a GTX 950 :-o
Nvidia broke my GPU. Lost my 690 thx to bad drivers
you do realize the 270X doesn't use much power , yes ?
Basically, the moral of the story is that if you have a 270x, this isn't an upgrade. Honestly, prices for the 950 are so close to the 960 and 380, that I really just recommend getting one of those cards instead. If you need a little bit more oomph, the 380x is down in price too, and is probably the best strictly 1080p card.
I find it hilarious that there is such furious debate over pieces of hardware that most of the people arguing over don't have a clue about the actual internal functions and how they actually differ. In the grand scheme of things, is something like 4 fps difference really worth getting this heated up about?
If a video driver broke your OS you're shit at building computers and should stick to football.
I believe you have forgotten about nvidia's furnace of a card the 480, and your thinking about the old generations anyway move on
not true, at least for Crysis. AMD is officially Crysis' supporter.
BULLSHIT! I don't remember if Crysis 3 had an AMD logo, but Crysis 2 had an AMD short clip in the beginning. AMD officially supports Crysis, however NVidia has also optimized a bunch of drivers for the game.
I had a R7 265, it died few weeks ago (less than 2 years since purchase). I have now bought a GTX 950, which is much better than the R7 265 in both performance and power consumption.
and breaking your OS because of buggy drivers. It's disgraceful that Ati stayed in business with how bad they were at the most basic things in drivers. Good silicon, terrible coding, UI, and features. Hey ATI boneheads, you could have had a leg up if you had HDMI2 on budget video cards right now but no, you actually think we want Displayport. What a joke.
AMD is great for heating your house and replacing every year when it overheats.
ya nvidia games has prefreance for nvidia cards but amd has always play all types of games .
For anyone wondering, Crysis is a Nvidia supported franchise.
because it is optimized better than the r9 270x but the r9 270x is more performant.
Because benchmark apps are bullshit and real world usage is the only thing that actually can tell you for sure how's your hardware doing
Why GTX 950 lost to R9 270X when it shows that GTX 950 has higher fps on Bioshock and Crysis 3?
gpuboos puxa o saco da nvidia!
amm nope
gtx 950 higher fps in game than r9 270x r.i.p
