wtf
290x vapor - x better that all one gpu cards
These tests do not care about price difference, pure performance, where the 290x wins, maybe you can oc the 290, but with a nice cooler you can do just the same on the 290x and surpass the 290 by quite a bit.
The 290x is FAR superior especially in battlefield4 (20+ fps difference!!!!)
But the 290 will never have the same Stream processors as the 290x. Speed is not the only thing that matters.
The 290 out performs the 780 from my experience. Its 20 dollars cheaper and you get 1gb more VRAM. Do not go by the rating on gpuboss for 780 vs 290. GPUboss is the most biased GPU site. Always in favor of nvidia. Also, the shadow play of AMD is radeonpro. It is going to be released or may already be.
The 290 sapphire runs cooler then the 780 ACX by about 10C. I have both. One in my wife's and one in mine. The are both excellent cards. Decide what games you will be playing. If you plan on Crysis 3 or Battlefield 4.. then the 290 will beat the 780 by about 15 FPS due to them being optimized for AMD. The 290 is very much the same as the 780 and costs 100 less and is cooler. You won't regret the 290 sapphire vapor x. Thats the best out there right now. It also has a glowy light on the side which tells you what temp your GPU is currently at. Its a nice one.
Yes. The vapor x 290 I have has never gone over 70C at max fan speed of 50%. Even during intense benchmarking.
Now the price difference between the 290 and 290x is closing in. The 290x tri-x oc from sapphire is $510 on amazon and the 290 tri-x oc is $440.
Do not get the 290x. There is no point in spending 100+ more dollars. my r9 290 vapor X runs the same FPS as the 290x for 150 dollars less then current priced 290x.
Not to mention the fact that the 290 will OC to 290x speeds yet the 290x doesn't OC much at all. I think the 290 is the winner!!
