Nvidia Maxwell goes mobile with GTX 980M and GTX 970M

Despite their same name, mobile GPUs are always way below their desktop counterparts for obvious reasons, and while that might happened before, the new Maxwell 2.0 changes everything and closes the relative performance gap placing the performance of the mobile GTX 980M at around 80 percent of the GTX 980.
Efficiency is quite impressive considering the GPU is still based on the 28nm manufacturing process.

EVGA announces GTX 980 and GTX 970 with ACX 2.0 cooler

According to EVGA, the power consumption of a fan can affect the overclocking ability of the entire graphics cards due to maximum power ceiling that also takes the fan power consumption into account, thus EVGA completely redesigned the motor to reduce noise, increased the fan blade count to create higher pressure, all without needing to increase the motor speed and noise levels, something that makes it the best complete cooling solution on the market.
It continues with the EVGA GTX 970 ACX, which has reference clocks and older ACX cooler, the EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX, with old ACX cooler and 1165/1317MHz GPU clocks as well as the non-overclocked EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 with the new ACX cooler.
The numbers show the GeForce GTX 980 consumes 47W in in idle, 183W in gaming mode compared to 233W on GTX 780 Ti and 333W on Radeon R9 290X.
The review was leaked over at Expreview however it has since been removed but we were able to grab most of the performance slides to show you the performance comparisons between NVIDIA’s new and improved Maxwell core architecture versus GK110 and Hawaii.
There is evidence to the 20nm Mobility claim and though, logically, it appears probable, the evidence is stacking towards this.
However, some solid rumors spotted by Cloudfire (NotebookReview) seem to indicate that the GTX 980M and GTX 970M will launch around 11th October, which is after the time the Nvidia Reveal is scheduled.
