Radeon HD 7950

Released January, 2012

6.4 Out of 10

Thanks to PowerColor's dual fan cooler the card is a lot quieter than the AMD reference design, and runs cooler too - pretty impressive!
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)
The game graphics are top notch, even today, yet the game still runs well on most computers.

Reviews Word on the street for the Radeon HD 7950

9.1
This power configuration is good for up to 225 W of power draw.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Performance

Overall I would say the card is "quiet", making it a good choice for high-end gamers who want to enjoy their games without a lot of fan noise coming from the graphics card.
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)
Sapphire's HD 7950 Flex uses a higher GPU clock than the AMD reference design, which will help gain some extra performance.
by techPowerUp! (Jul, 2012)
You may combine up to four HD 7950 and HD 7970 cards from any vendor in a multi-GPU CrossFire configuration for higher framerates or better image quality settings.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)

Applications

Moving away from the European setting of previous Total War games, the game is now designed around principles of the brilliant Chinese general Sun Tzu and his book "The Art of War.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
After the tremendous success of Far Cry, the German game studio Crytek released their latest shooter Crysis in 2007.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
Due to the massive success of the first game, Blizzard chose to focus large aspects of the game on multiplayer combat through Battle.net.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)

Power

Another small contribution to increased power draw is the second fan of the MSI cooler, which adds less than 0.5W. A new feature of the HD 7900 Series is AMD ZeroCore Power, which will power off the card as soon as the monitor output is blanked, during screen saver for example.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
On cards with power limiting systems we will disable the power limiting system or configure it to the highest available setting - if possible.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
In this review, we're testing AMD's reference design HD 7950 graphics card, which is similar in design to the HD 7970, except it has a lighter VRM, and draws power from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors instead of the 6+8 pin layout on the HD 7970.
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)

Multi card

The Crossfire combination can impress even more.
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)
A multi-GPU HD 7950 CrossFire setup is certainly not a cheap thing to get.
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)
We noticed the same problems in our HD 7970 CrossFire review with an earlier driver, so it looks like things are not going as fast as they should with AMD's driver development.
by techPowerUp! (Jan, 2012)

Gaming

It is one of the first DirectX 11 games with support for new features like tesselation, which is why AMD heavily promoted it at the time of their DX 11 card launches.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
Later installments of the Call of Duty Series use the same game engine, so this test is also representative of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 performance.
by techPowerUp! (Feb, 2012)
StarCraft II features a similar number of units as the original game, some of them new.

Only 1995 dollars? Hot dog!
Go with these heavy power hungry GPU's if u have a 27" to 30" monitor or triple display setup because the 7950 has more headroom(2560*1440 n 2560*1600) to play above full HD 1080p maxxed out settings. u got a 22" monitor u can always go with a HD 7850 or 7870 graphic cards as they are more than enough for playing games at full HD with ultra settings.
