In both of these cases FP16 does present its own limitations – 16-bits just isn’t very many bits to hold a floating point number – but there are enough cases where it’s still precise enough that it’s worth the time and effort to build in the ability to process it quickly.

The MSI X99 motherboard lineup will include five motherboards which include the X99S XPOWER AC, X99S MPOWER overclocking boards, X99S Gaming 9 AC and X99S Gaming 7 gaming motherboards and the standard X99S SLI Black edition which will be the entry level board featuring a fantastic all-black aesthetic scheme.

Over the last couple of quarters we have seen AMD gain in this space, and keeping in mind that Q2 2016 does not include sales of AMD's new Polaris-based graphics cards like the Radeon RX 480, the jump to 29.9% is a big move for the company.

NVIDIA's Game Ready drivers didn't strive for WHQL certification until just recently, and, even then, WHQL certification doesn't mean what it used to.
If you play Battleborn, which launched on May 3rd, then AMD has added a new CrossFire profile for that game.

AMD Radeon Crimson Edition 16.4.2 hits the streets

by Jeremy Hellstrom |

If you are having issues with games crashing to desktop on launch you will still need to disable the AMD Gaming Evolved overlay, unfortunately.
Best of all, our DirectX 12 leadership continues to be strong, as shown by the performance numbers below.
AMD’s primary goal here is to get many millions of gamers VR-ready, though getting the enthusiasts “that last millisecond” is still a goal and it will happen from Radeon.
Because realities are dictating that GPU vendors build smaller, more power efficient GPUs, and to scale performance overall, multi-GPU solutions need to be efficient and plentiful.
